The programme for the day is designed for our members but will be of interest/benefit to all involved in the wool and wool harvesting industry. Pre-registration is essential.

2.15pm – 2.45pm – Wools of NZ chief executive John McWhirter – merger, rise in demand for wool
2.45pm – 3pm – Key messages for 2022 season wool prep and classing, Richard Hurring of Wools of NZ
2.45pm – 3.15pm – Afternoon smoko
3.15pm – 3.45pm – Andy Caughey – the SWAG journey to new entity “Wool Impact”
3.45pm – 4pm – Tahi Ngatahi, Richard Poff/Grant Campbell – H&S essential legal issues for classers/self employed
4pm – 4.20pm – Acknowledgements, questions, suggestions, time to fill out feedback forms on the day

Speakers will include:

  • “From the wool press” – two experienced pressers share their views on “Things that classers do that are helpful and things that classers do that are unhelpful”
  • Rosstan Mazey new chairman of National Council of NZ Wool Interests Inc
  • Tahi Ngatahi rep on legal obligations and related health and safety considerations for classers, graders and farmers
  • NZ Merino Company, PGG Wrightson and Wools of NZ representatives – pre-season key messages and time for questions.
