A reminder for wool classers from Fe Howie, Livestock Manager, Wanaka A&P Show

“As shearing season reaches its peak, it’s the perfect

time to choose your show fleeces and set them aside

for the 2026 Wanaka A&P Show.

This prestigious event uses industry-standard testing

to ensure your fleece is evaluated against market relevant

benchmarks—giving you full confidence in the

quality and competitiveness of your entry.

Entries close 20 February and fleeces need to be in

Wanaka 23 of February. The Canterbury collection

point is PGG Wrightson.

Wool Classers

If you personally select your top fleece from the clip, your expertise will be formally

recognised with the Martin Paterson Trophy. In addition, the winning Classer will receive one

year’s free membership to the New Zealand Wool Classers Association.

Please note:

To be eligible for this award, the fleece must be individually selected by the Classer. If your

clip was classed but no fleece was specifically chosen by the Classer, that fleece will not be

eligible for this recognition.

We also ask that you take care when completing the entry form, ensuring all details are filled

out accurately.”
