Mitchell Young

I am employed by WoolWorks New Zealand Limited as the South Island Innovation Manager and am excited and enthusiastic to be representing the processing industry on the NZWCA Board. I have been working in the wool industry for over 10 years starting first at Mulcahy Wool Merchants where my father was employed as a University holiday job before joining the WoolWorks team in 2015. My father worked in the wool industry for nearly 50 years and I have inherited his passion for this wonderful product.

I currently live in Timaru with my fiancé Janna and twin sons Charlie and Noah. I am passionate about ensuring that in the future my children see wool as the product of choice. Along with a BCom for the University of Otago I have also completed the New Zealand Certificate of Wool Technology through the Southern Institute of Technology which gave me a further understanding and appreciation of wool and all its brilliant qualities.

I look forward to helping maintain the relationship between the NZWCA and the processing industry which is crucial in ensuring that wool is presented in such a way that it can be processed to a high standard and keep New Zealand’s reputation of producing some of the best wool inn the word intact.
